SON OF HERCULES
A son stands beside his dying father, reading him a final bedtime story. The story is the myth of Hercules, told not through the hero’s triumphs, but through the eyes of his son Hyllus and his overlooked wife Deianira. As legend and reality intertwine, childhood roles reverse and Hyllus is faced with an unbearable choice: to let go of his father by ending his suffering.
This mask theatre storytelling work blends humour and heartbreak, exploring the intimate family drama behind myth and revealing how close these ancient stories sit to our own lives. Performed by Angus Temrak, this is a moving work in progress that reframes epic heroism through love, regret, and legacy.
